This commission was unique—the client requested a specific palette of pinks and blues overlaid on a photo she had taken of a gnarly beached tree root. I started with a study to ensure the colors matched her vision, and once approved, moved on to the main painting. This process pushed me to step outside my usual approach, translating what I see into an entirely new palette and making it feel natural.
