Still Breeze
Oil on linen
21 x 27 framed
On a late summer walk in Blaine, I was struck by the contrast of golden, rusty grass beneath a thick, textured sky. Though the grass moved in the breeze, the air felt strangely still. To capture this tension between movement and stillness, I used calcium carbonate to thicken the paint in the sky.
This contrast mirrors the recurring theme in my work of finding calm within chaos. The piece is framed in antiqued gold leaf, which enhances the blues and reflects the warmth of the golden grass, tying together nature’s quiet yet powerful presence.
