In Mossy Insight, I immersed myself in the serene UBC Endowment Lands, capturing the quiet wisdom of the moss-covered trees. This plein air study reflects my love for the dense, damp forests where moss blankets everything, from ancient trunks to the forest floor. The rich greens and layered textures evoke both grounding and mystery. These lands have long been cared for by the Musqueam people, who lived in close connection with this vibrant ecosystem. I aimed to honor that connection by painting the interplay of shadow and light filtering through the towering trees, letting the forest speak for itself.
