Grapes & Pots
Oil on panel
8 x 10 inches
In Grapes and Pots, I explored the interplay of light and shadow across earthy, handmade pottery set against a deep fabric background. The soft light gently highlights the organic curves of the vessels, while the dark tones create a moody contrast, grounding the composition.
The cluster of grapes adds a touch of vibrancy, their deep purple tones standing out against the muted earth tones. This still life study was a way to observe and convey subtle textures, from the smooth surface of the pots to the soft folds of fabric and the sheen of the fruit.
